There likely was a lot of grass seed at Phish’s May 31 concert at Fenway Park.

But Ian Ferris, 30, guitar player for the band evilhero who lives in Shelburne, smuggled in his own special bag of the stuff: Yankee Stadium grass seed that he stuffed down his pants in a plastic sandwich bag.

Ferris, a lifelong Yankees fan, was looking to have some extra fun at the show, thrusting himself into the annals of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry in the process.

His idea was to get the rival seed into the park and onto the Fenway field, planting Yankee goods — and maybe good luck — behind enemy lines.... (from Burlington Free Press)
